Dream Time

A few nights ago, I had a really profound dream. Some might call it a nightmare, however all dreams come from the same source, with a message to ponder and apply.

My dream: I was training to be a fire fighter; it was hard and arduous work. A large crane was being brought in to provide a special ladder for us. This ladder was as tall as a skyscraper. It had two sides, with a laminate strong platform (like a skinny pyramid with a platform vs. a point) at the top. The trainees would climb up both sides to get to the top.  At the top each trainee would lay flat on the laminate top and wait for the captain to coach them to jump over to the building that we were inspecting. We were learning about how fires burn through the roofs of buildings.

I sat at the bottom waiting, and a bit fearful.  Then it was my turn, I was the last recruit. It was a bit windy and as I climbed up higher and higher, I was shaking ever so slightly.  As I reached the top, I did not want to get on the platform.  The captain was coaching me and yelling at me to ‘just do it’.  I got up there, laid flat on my stomach, and the latter began to sway back and forth due to the wind. I panicked, I held tightly to the platform with my hands and my legs.  I could not move, I was paralyzed with fear, and screaming for my life. My head turned to the right and I saw all of the other recruits coaching me and yelling for me to get up and jump over, as the wind was really picking up speed.  I froze, I screamed; then, I woke up. Dream ended.

Analysis: I am going through a giant transition right now, expanding my business, moved to a new location, moved to a new home, moving offices. Leaving family and friends I love. A tremendous amount of change.  This dream is telling me I am working my way to the top of what I want. I am willing to do this.  It’s telling me to ‘hold-on’, and most importantly trust others to help me. I saw the looks in my comrades’ faces, caring and strong. Coaching me to ‘get up and jump over to the building’.  Encouraging me, saying ‘you can do it’, ‘just do it’.

Summary: Dreams are real, I will take this to heart, I can do this, I am strong and a valuable contributor to society, and I help people feel safe and sound. I turned the ‘nightmare’ around to a valuable message of courage and fortitude to go forward.
